Re: One Third of All Brits live in Poverty
"Free" health care is the most expensive health care in the world. The stupid, short-sighted Left in America are learning that lesson right now. It's worked here since 1948...free health care from the cradle to the grave. Two different countries with completely different systems, I can on...

Re: One Third of All Brits live in Poverty
The mass immigration of Third World people has also had a serious impact on poverty rates and increased drain on Social Spending; correct ? A huge impact...., not just from deprived countries either....though some people prefer to close their eyes to that fact. Housing, jobs, NHS facilities and sch...

Re: One Third of All Brits live in Poverty
It is free for the recpient.
Obviously like everything else the national health service is funded by taxes, but access to medical care is free here whether a person pays tax and insurance or not.

Re: One Third of All Brits live in Poverty
It depends what your version of poverty is....and a third of Brits living in poverty is not the Britain I see. No one is starving, everyone is entitled to free health care and we have a benefit system that ensures everyone has what they need. And that may be the confusion here, interviewing people ...

Re: One Third of All Brits live in Poverty
I believe in the UK the poverty line is defined as 60% of the median income. I found this on Wikipedia: Based on study by Poverty and Social Exclusion project at Bristol University in 2014,[1] Poverty in United Kingdom has been increasing over the past decades. Study claimed that in 2012, 33% of pe...

Re: The weather.
I love it to be 80 degrees and sunny with little wind or humidity. I have been to South California a couple of times in summer and literally froze to death. I had no idea it was so cold there! I really don't mind the heat. In fact...I dislike the cold more these days. I don't want to go skiing anym...

Re: The weather.
So far this year it hasn't been too hot, I don't believe it has broke a 100 yet. Ideal for me is 44-50 F - I was born in the wrong spot for that ! :) You should have been born here...cold wet and windy 6 or 7 months of the year. :( My andecedants were dispersed from the Scot Lowlands many years ago...

Re: Do you ever change your style?
Seems the majority of people find a style and keep it, with a few tweaks to allow for age. :) I agree about the blue eyeshadow...it's very ABBA and not a good look for any age imo. On me shorter hair makes me look younger (so people say) but I dont want to look younger I want to wear what imo suits ...

Re: Do you still help support your grown children?
I think there is a big difference between helping your kids out when they need it and being expected to be always on hand to bail them out.
I know if my son ever expected hand outs I would resent it...scrounging, even off parents is not a nice thing to do.

Re: Do you ever change your style?
Only a little. Updating my eyeglass frames has been the biggest change. When I started getting wrinkles, I laid off the sparkly eye shadow. I've worn my hair long all my life because my husband likes it, sometimes straight; sometimes curled, depending on the trends. Sometimes I have bangs (fringe) ...
