Re: Reading suggestion

My niece and her family (16 year old and 10 year old) plus husband listened to OK for Now on their drive to Texas last week. All liked it.

Re: Reading suggestion

Husband and I are reading 2 books that are aimed at the middle schooler. Both of us have really liked the books. Author is: Gary D. Schmidt. First book is Wednesday Wars (about a 7th grader who has a one-on-one lesson with his teacher each Wed. She makes him read Shakespeare.) Second is OK for Now (...

Re: Reading suggestion

The Bluebonnet list changes every year. Bluebonnet list is for the kids grades 3-6. Texas Librarians suggest 20 books that they believe the kids will like.....(other states make their lists) All of the lists make a good place to start if you are seeking a book for your child. Sometimes there are som...

The Parrots

>> A man goes into a pet shop to buy a parrot. The shop owner points to three identical-looking parrots on a perch and says, "The parrot on the left costs $500." >> "Why does the parrot cost so much?" asks the customer. The owner says, "Well, the parrot knows how to do legal...

Re: Voting irregularity??

I'm still amazed that Trump's kids didn't register to vote in the primary. Yes, that one is mind boggling. I wonder if the Trump family is a voting family. Has he voted in the past?.. Every now and then someone runs for office who never votes and I just don't get: *not voting *wanting to hold offic...

I am glad she recognized that he won't change and she does not like to live that way.

Hillary and Bill: She should have pulled the plug on him also. But, if both are happy the way things are, then who am I to tell them what to do?

Herreras is the one you are thinking of, I believe.

It is/has closed now. Landlord wanted something else in there. Now I can't remember if it plans to open somewhere else or not.

Re: Ancient castle hidden in plain sight

My granddaughters are obcessed with mashed potatoes. It's like a cult. It's the recipe from Kevin McCarthy's board. I don't really like potatoes. If sliced and fried with onions....well, those are OK, but they have to be really, really crisp. One granddaughter said that bit of Irish in the kids is ...

Re: Ojeda's Mexican food

I have a friend who thinks this is the best Mexican food ever.
I think it is average--but for $5, I'll go. She and I belong to a "group" and in August, we made a social event--met, played our game, then went down to Maple and ate lunch together.

We are hoping to repeat in Sept.

Re: How long has it been

Maybe a couple of years.
At some point I had a back that needed to be soaked and that was the last time.

Sometimes the concept of taking a long soak SOUNDS appealing, but as soon as I lie in the tub I think of all the things I could be doing and then get anxious to get out and do things.

Ojeda's Mexican food

Maple location........

They ran a $5.00 enchilada lunch plate special in August. If enough people like their FB page, they will repeat it in Sept.

Re: Another old farming term from the diary

My guess is that it refers to pulling up or otherwise removing sprouts of invasive plants. For instance, persimmons often sprout, or send up saplings, in marginal farm land that has been cleared from woods. By, Jove, I think this must be it!! My brother suggested it was "thinning" the cot...

Re: So me & Rusty

IMO, political opposites can be good friends if neither makes the differences change to personal attacks. Discuss the ideas, not the personality of the person. I cut my teeth listening to my father and his good friend cuss/discuss the political things of the day. They remained friends because the tw...
