Re: Congress repealed the WEP and GPO last night!!!

Prior to the repeal, I would not have been eligible for widow's benefits when my husband dies. Now, I will be like others and can collect either from his account or from my account.

Re: Bob Dylan and me

We saw him in Fort Worth in spring of 1974.

If you like his music from the 1960s, go see A Complete Unknown.
Very good movie.

Re: The missing Kay Granger Congresswomen fiund

Her staff should be made to repay their salaries. She should have resigned--or her family made her resign when those around her realized she had memory loss--before she went totally over the edge. I presume her staff wanted to keep their pay coming in so they were willing to conceal her mental decli...

Re: Congress repealed the WEP and GPO last night!!!

I think it affects people in 16 states. If someone paid into enough quarters in SS and also have a retirement fund from working in a job paid by tax dollars, then they were affected by this. Someone asked if I paid into SS. Yes, I worked for 14+ years in the business world (not counting those teenag...

Congress repealed the WEP and GPO last night!!!

Anyone else here affected by this? from my retired teacher letter: December 20, the United States Senate voted to pass H.R. 82, the Social Security Fairness Act, repealing the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO), with a vote of 76 yeas and 20 nays! After 42 years...

Re: Here are a few things I haven't mentioned before

Getting older can be so full of problems. I hope your assisted living place is good. I don't think you shared your wife's death, if you did, I don't remember. I always thought you were a single man. If it is of any comfort, I have always had a great deal of difficulty remembering names. I couldn’t e...

I'll bet that WAS a new taste.

Once upon a time, I did something like that, and now I can't remember what my mistake was. We both were thinking WTH went wrong with this?

Celebrity deaths announced on July 13

Richard Simmons (fitness and weight loss guru) - age 76

Sally Jesse Raphael (talk show host with red glasses) - age 89

Dr. Ruth Westheimer (sex advice guru) - age 96

I had to google Sally Jesse to remember why she was famous as it has been a lot of years.....
I thought Dr. Ruth had died years ago.

Years ago, Mick's brother in law spoke on Kevin's show. He said Mick wanted to talk about investments and what was going on in the business world. I think it was not too long after he had married Jerry Hall.

I'd be happy if we could could get the government schools to start the day with this. Every school where I taught in Texas began the day with the pledge to the flag and the pledge to the Texas flag. I can't remember if we id in South Carolina, but I only worked 1/2 of a semester there and it was ma...

PSA=if you have contact with little kids

Please make sure as soon as the kid is old enough to recognize a call for help needs to be made that the kid knows how to dial 911. I believe all smart phones will let a 911 call be made without the phone being unlocked. I'm not sure because I don't lock my phone. Anyway, this was prompted by a stor...

I actually thought it was cut and dried that he would be found guilty.
The world knows he is/was a drug abuser.

Re: I don't think Bannon wants to go to prison

Name one person who wants to go to prison.............

I agree with you that he has some convinced that he is the great guru of elections. I think he is a swarmy SOB.

If the laws of our land say he belongs in prison, then off to prison he should go.

I would probably give ID just so I didn't look like I was hiding something, I probably wouldn't even think, "They are not supposed to ask without just cause." Disclaimer: I do volunteer work with my local police department. As part of my training I had to do 2 "ride alongs" with ...

Glad to hear from you. (A portapotty in the hospital? What the heck?) Not a fun week, but you are still among the living. After Bob from Burleson went MIA I suggest you (and everyone else) to share a way for some one here to contact your relatives in case we don't hear from you and we want to know w...

Re: Open Borders question

I didn't say it was under control. I just question how it can be said to be open if we are deporting as many as we catch. People have been swimming across the Rio Grande all my life. We/the US has been trying to stop it all my life. No one has figured out a way to do that 100%. My point is that if w...

Open Borders question

I hear the term "open borders" and read where the US is supposed to have open borders now that Biden is POTUS. However, a short google search says: How many immigrants have been returned in 2023? In coordination with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, since May 2023, DHS has repatri...
