Had beaucoup veggie leftovers, so I've got a pot of gumbo bubbling on the stove. I guess I was thinking of Mardi Gras.

One of my favorite memories of my dad and our older son was when "Poppa" was teaching Cameron to skip rocks in the park pond. Cam would select little limestone rocks one by one from the bank, asking each time if the rock was a proper shape for skipping multiple times across the water. Popp...

We find Virgin Mobile Paylo to be a very good deal. If you don't make a lot of calls, it's about $6 a month for voice and texting. My phone was $10 at Target, on sale. I pay in $20 every 90 days for .20 a minute for voice; .15 for texts and the minutes accumulate as long as you do so. I have probabl...

The big storms predicted might cause the undedicated voters to stay home in north Texas. That means good news for the Republicans.

I want them to have DST only when the kids are out of school. I hate seeing the elementary students waiting for the bus at 6:45 in the pitch dark.
School starts at 7:30 and it hasn't even been light then lately.

The whole broad concept of viaticals reeks. Who thought up this nastiness?
I think it's all inhuman and ghoulish and you could never convince me the vulturish practice benefits anyone.

The second one, I'm watching now, guest stars Lou Ferrigno.
He looks good. He's painted green, (an Orion) but he should be quite used to that, huh?

Is Anyone Else a Star Trek TOS Fan?
This is sort of fun: Some fans, theater people and actors got together and made some more STTOS episodes for the web (webisodes, of course). I've just watched the first one. Some aspects are pretty good- they got the music right and sets and costumes are almost right. The casting falls short. I don'...

Let's see, one of my dad's grandfathers was a blacksmith, the other was a tailor. One of my mom's grandfathers was ship's captain and merchant.

Nursing requires more effort for the baby. They instinctively know how to do it, but it requires mandibular and tongue muscle development. That's a benefit of nursing that results in lifelong benefits like better speech, chewing and fewer ear infections. Any breastfeeding she can do now is helpful a...

So, she was about 30 in that episode of Star Trek? For some reason, I figured she was about 21. Good casting. Vulcans were supposed to live a long time and look much younger than they were. Notice I wrote "supposed". I know it's a TV show. I don't live there. That said, live lon...

Re: Exhibit in Denton -Wedding gowns
It would be nice to see some of the variety in the historic gowns. I am getting pretty tired of seeing pretty much the same strapless ballgown over and over. :) We got married during the post-Princess Diana puffed sleeve era, so I can't talk too loudly about style, but I'm really bored by the lack o...
