Re: Friday Night Lights

When I was in high school, the bleachers virtually emptied out after halftime every week. It was all the band and drill team parents leaving. Here in our little town, football is king. Most of the people in the bleachers don't know how to behave when the band and drill team are on the field. In hig...

Re: Dallas Cowboys 2019-2020

I don't even consider myself a casual Cowboys fan, anymore. I have never been a fan of GM Jerry, and I will never darken the door of JerryWorld. Not a fan of Elliot, Prescott is overrated. Big fan of Anthony Brown, as he was a teammate and in same recruiting class as my son at Purdue. Big fan of Jas...

Re: What were you doing the day the first man walked on the moon?

We watched it on our B&W set in our den with some family friends in Munday, TX. I remember someone had given my dad some seedless watermelons (supposedly developed in Munday) and there was watermelon after the event. I was 10 years old at the time.

Re: Married people...

When making plans, we will discuss when we want to leave as part of the planning process. There really isn't much to see in College Station, if we are going to go do something it will be Astros in Houston or Stars in Dallas. She did go to see Michael Buble in concert Saturday, in Denver. My daughter...

Re: Texas Rangers Baseball Thread

Nice win over the Astros to start the second half. But there is no way in hell I could listen to the ESPN broadcast for 162 games. Astros lack quality starting pitching beyond Verlander, Cole, and Miley. I wish they could have kept Morton, he is having a great season for Tampa Bay. The rookies they...

Re: Ross Perot

I think there is a group picture somewhere. My brother is famous for taking hundreds of pictures at family events, and we never see any of them. That's why I make sure to take my own. I find it amazing how many kid birthday parties I have come to where NO ONE is taking pictures. I just pull out my ...

Re: Ross Perot

Back when Mr. Perot was running for President, AMS Productions shot his commercials in their facilities in Dallas. My brother was employed as a videographer/rigger/grip/etc. and got to know Mr. Perot pretty well. So much so that his daughter (my niece) was the baby in his national television commerc...

Re: I45 through Huntsville

Levels of traffic expand to fill the available lanes. Three lanes won't be enough. All of the interstates we frequently use are at capacity. I am curious if the original plan for the interstate highway system made provision for the high volume of freight that would be handled by trucks. At the time ...

Re: Sad News

Best of luck to Karen on her knee surgery. Hope everything goes well. My 83 year old father told me on Father's Day he is having knee replacement done next month, at a time when we have rented a cabin in OK. I didn't even know he had knee problems. Heart issues, prostate cancer, but not knee issues...

My husband commented on "no more squirrel stories/jokes"--- I was surprised he listened to me enough to know Jami was the one we teased about squirrels. I sure will miss her. Lisa and I are going to the service. Anyone else going to make the drive? I would like to go, but I have commitmen...

Re: Huge Steam locomotive

Thanks for that. Maybe I'll drive up to Cheyenne to see it come back next Sunday. I'm only about a half hour away. Be careful. There are hundreds of folks "chasing" this locomotive. It is a big deal in the railfan community. It will tour the UP system over the next few years, supposed to ...
