Re: MillerCoors sues Bud for false advertising

I wouldn't drink either of those on a bet. True. But then again, I drank Schlitz and Lone Star in college. My only defense is that it was a cheap buzz. And we could walk from the beer joint back to the dorm. We used to get kegs of Old Mil in college for $16. Neither the quality of ingredients nor t...

Re: Funny, but true

It is going to be interesting to see how the two celebrity moms will be treated in the college admissions scandal. Frankly, not sure how I feel about this. I work for a community college that has to accept all students. And both of my kids were accepted into their colleges on athletic scholarships, ...

Re: Grandson who is into baseball

Fantastic. Do you get to occasionally get to see him play? Last year, every time we were going to go over there--big rainstorm. We did see him at at 3 day tournament in Cleburne last spring. We plan to go see him this Saturday. Safe travels. Hope he does well. I miss our baseball days. Don't miss p...

Re: Young adult updates

Thanks all for the platitudes. Our kids turned out ok despite their parents. I truly believe that you should be interested in what your kids do, support what they do, but make them responsible and accountable for what they do. All the athletic stuff? They had to do the work, go to all the practices,...

Re: Young adult updates

Good job raising two responsible adults. What kind of teenagers were they? Just curious... Both of our kids were athletic, with a bit of intelligence thrown in there. Neither really had time to date, although they did do things with a small core of friends. We made them do chores. No discipline pro...

Yes, sir! Although I have responsibilities at all campuses, I am based in Bryan. Commute is doable, although traffic in BCS is absolutely horrible at rush hour.

Young adult updates

Here is an update on my kids, I have to call them adults as they are 25 & 23 now. My daughter has been working on the Bois D Arc dam project as a project engineer since June; she lives in Sherman and commutes to the site northeast of Bonham. She likes the work, and splits her time between field ...

Re: The microwave caught fire

As a preteen, my son learned to operate the microwave. Someway, somehow, he thought that the microwave instructions on the side of a package of biscuits meant he could pop the whole thing in the oven. One small fire later, and lots of laughter from little sis, he learned that biscuits don't bake in ...

Re: Song from WWII

Speaking of the grammys.... I don't normally watch, but my wife was, and I was in the room working on other things. I couldn't help but notice that most of the youngsters couldn't stay on key to save their lives, but the old folks did just fine. I still don't consider rap to be music, but that is t...

Re: Beautiful fall foliage this year in Kiamichi Country

Reminds me of the Great Smoky Mountain Parkway in NC & Tennessee. Are there hiking trails along the way?

This is situated about halfway between where my kids live now; might be a great weekend getaway for us all.

Thanks for posting this.

Re: Something is rotten in Denmark, methinks...

I dropped my 22 year old daughter from policy entirely; my son turned 25, and lowered coverage on two cars; and Safeco increased my premium 80 a month.
Explanation, Safeco is raising rates in Texas. Well, Safeco is also losing customers in Texas.

Something is rotten in Denmark, methinks...

I had a local insurance agent for years, who got out of the business a couple of years ago because he wasn't making enough money. His book, and our policies, were transferred to a big agency in Irving. Our policies renew in September, and the last two years our car rates have gone up despite the fac...
