Snarky me.............
I just sent this "viewer response" to the Channel 5 news staff:
I am very disappointed in what was presented as news today......a block of ice melting. Really? really?? someone thought this was NEWS--news suitable for a major market news cast??
Why could you not have informed us on a variety of other actual NEWS items?.......possibly the earthquake in the Hawaiian Islands?
If you wanted to keep it local items, I'm at a loss for suggestions since I watched what you presented........but surely something happened in the metroplex that was more news worthy than "ice will melt in the heat."
--------------------------------
The news cast included a block of ice in the yard at the station..........
"Here is what it looked like when we put it out" "Here it is an hour later" "Yes, the ice melted in the 100 degree temp"
Good grief!! Ice melting is NEWS??????????????????????????????????????

LL, good for you. Standards of journalism have declined...I think it was to appeal to the lowest common denominator, to keep ratings up from that crowd.

The local TV stations have become obsessed with the 100 degree mark.
