Talking pillows
Couple of pillow topics:
* Feather or synthetic for your pillow at night?
We like feather. Sure is $$ though. MIL actually made us a down pillow many years ago.
*Regarding this current trend of many decorative pillows on the bed
What is one supposed to do with the pillows at night, if there is no chair or other place to put them? I hate just tossing them on the floor. Stayed in a very upscale home, and I really didn't want to toss her pillows on the floor. I ended up putting them on a shelf in the closet at night.

Re: Talking pillows
I prefer synthetic pillows. I can ball them up and not have quills sticking me! When the Ex dumped me, she imported a dozen pillows to her bed. She tossed them on the floor when she went to bed!
Re: Talking pillows
I like a memory foam pillow, so I guess synthetic. I always put the decorative pillows in a rocking chair.
Re: Talking pillows
I thought we were talking.."talking pillows."
I don't know what they're made of, but I like the ones that are very firm.

Re: Talking pillows
Feather, but they have allergen covers on them because we are a household with many allergies!
The decorative pillows are precariously piled in one tall stack on the floor or on the bench at the foot of the bed.

Some coffee cups are just too small.

Have regular pillow for my head.

Re: Talking pillows
You know. When I first saw the topic "Talking pillows" I thought maybe you had discovered an actual pillow that would talk to you! But you know what, it would be nice to have a pillow that talked quietly to you as you drift off to sleep (instead of the TV) or yelled at you in the morning to get out of bed.
I also have a body pillow that I love.

Re: Talking pillows
So did I. But one that talked would not work here. The dog would destroy it before I had the chance to. BUT, kinda soft works out for me.Trixie wrote:You know. Re: Talking pillows
I haven't had a pillow I loved in years.
I have a memory foam contour shape that I use often. I have a memory foam one that is larger on the edges & sinks down in the middle. I have a gel pillow. I have a feather pillow.
I may use two or three different pillows in one night. Or I may use one (most likely the contour pillow) all night for days.
I have slept on pillows in resort hotels that I'd leave all my stuff & put the pillow in my suitcase if I could.
I need a nicer pillow, or more alcohol at night....I don't know which.

I thought that too. Buckwheat filled pillows came to mind, because they are so noisy!

Re: Talking pillows
I can't believe I paid for goose down, but that's what I use. I don't think my husband cares what pillow is on the bed, but I put the goose down one on and then a synthetic one on both sides of the bed. The guest bedrooms have a ton of decorative pillows on the beds. There are dressers, closet shelves, etc. I don't care where they put them.
Re: Talking pillows
I read it as pillows that talk!
Wouldn't a cooling pillow be wonderful?

the five I use are synthetic.
Re: Talking pillows
Do y'all know about Chillows? They are water-filled pillow inserts that act as heat sinks- sort of like water beds.
They make gel-filled pillows, too. They're more convenient but don't stay cool as long as Chillows.

It's a good idea to buy two so you can switch them out when they warm up (after an hour or so, or if you wake up warm.) I turn one into a hot water bottle after a while, so I have one on both sides of my pillow to flip over.
