I moved from my apartment about 4 months ago. Reason is I am increasingly having some problems living alone. I am now in an assisted living facility just a 10 minute walk from my brother's winter home in Fort Collins. There are probably a little over 100 people here . The main advantage is that all my meals are provided. Not great food but adequate. I still have my car and can eat out when I like. And go to shop when I need to.
My main problem now is increasing memory loss. Especially names. That is very frustrating and embarrassing. And there is apparently no cure though I do work with a therapist twice a week. But, that doesn't really seem to help.
I am probably older than you might think. I am 85. So, any improvement at this point seems pretty unlikely and I don't expect any. Two weeks ago I was sick for a few days. I lost a lot of elasticity in the skin on my arms and legs and some weight. I have some sores on both arms and some bleeding. Greece! I am starting to look like an old fart!

Thoughts and prayers…
If a woman has to choose between catching a fly ball and saving an infant's life, she will choose to save the infant's life without even considering if there is a man on base. — George Bernard Shaw .

What a draaaaaag it is, getting old. I'm just a few years behind you.
I feel like I'm parked diagonally in a parallel universe.

Especially if you have to do it alone. My wife died 7 years ago. No kids. That's why I'm in Colorado with my brother's family. But, he's in the mountains in the summer. His son and family live here. But, they are business owners and very busy with 2 kids.

There's a lot that have worse issues than me. I see a number of them here. Actually, I think I'm one of the luckier ones. I'm pretty well off financially.

Getting older can be so full of problems. I hope your assisted living place is good.
I don't think you shared your wife's death, if you did, I don't remember. I always thought you were a single man.
If it is of any comfort, I have always had a great deal of difficulty remembering names. I couldn’t even blame it on age! It is embarrassing.
Hang in there--you have family nearby.

I am doing OK and still able to drive thank goodness. I just went through the stage where your skin wrinkles up. I thought that happened over a period of time. I was sick and It was less than a week!! And it is very thin and damages easily now. And it happened so fast!
