You're not going to score any points with me bagging on weekend warriors .BigTex -> U.S. Naval Reserve Retired.

[*] Brig. Gen. Theodore Roosevelt, Jr, served in WWI and received a Distinguished Service Cross, two Silver Stars and an Army Distinguished Service Medal. He died of a heart attack a month after D-Day and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for leading the first wave to land at Utah Beach.

[*]Pfc. Michael J. Perkins, Massachusetts National Guard, in a WWI battle in France, single handedly attacked a German pillbox and after bombing the pillbox he stabbed survivors with his trench knife until they surrendered. Medal of Honor recipient.

[*]Lewis L. Millett, Massachusetts National Guard, received a Silver Star and a battlefield commission to 2nd Lieutenant in WWII. In the Korean War he received the Distinguished Service Cross and the Medal of Honor for two bayonet charges.

[*]Lt. Col. Earl Rudder received the Distinguished Service Cross for leading the 2nd Ranger Battalion in the assault on the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc on D-Day. (Rudder later served as President of Texas A&M)

[*]Corporal Sidney E. Manning, Alabama National Guard, received the Medal of Honor in WWI for leading his platoon to take an elevated German position after the platoon commander and the platoon sergeant were killed.

[*]PFC George Dilboy, Army National Guard, was mortally wounded after charging a German machine gun position at a railroad station. He received the Medal of Honor posthumously. General Pershing called him one of the ten greatest heroes of WWI.

I am not "bagging" on anybody. I'm saying you set reasonable standards and qualifications for any position.

This medal was developed and instituted during World War II, and it has been awarded to thousands of recipients since for serving their country. It's for being there, not anything specific they did.

Hey, dipwad..my father won a bronze star along with two Purple Hearts during World War 2.

He did not do “nothing”..he and another soldier carried a wounded officer a great distance..the man lived and had a long life..longer than my father.

For that he won the Bronze Star.

Did I mention you’re a dipwad?

As someone once said..”If you keep your mouth shut, you could fool anyone.”

Yeah, I had 2 uncles in WWII. My father didn't have to go because of me. But, that has nothing to do with it.

It's not "bagging" on reservists to question whether they should be running the defense department.
