Obummercare just bit me in the butt
I went online to order 2 prescriptions yesterday. Apparently, my copay has just doubled! I could have ordered them last week at half the price. It's great to know that my cost for prescriptions will be double this year what it was last year, but inflation is only 1.7%.

Re: Obummercare just bit me in the butt
The reality hit me the other day when the group I see for preventative health and hormone issues went concierge. This other group had previously filed my Medicare and Tricare. As of Jan. 1 if a doc has opted out of being under the government thumb, by accepting Medicare, not only can the doc not file for Medicare reimbursement - neither can the patient. So, labs, x-rays, etc. are not covered and will not be reimbursed. And, of course, no Medicare reimbursement means no Tricare reimbursement either.
Bloodwork that cost me nothing out of pocket, thanks to insurance coverage, last year is, as of Jan. 1 $700+. The office visit that cost nothing out of pocket thanks to insurance coverage, last year is, as of Jan. 1, $400 per hour.............all of which comes out of our pockets.
I switched to a concierge general practitioner a few months ago because I have little faith in the level of general medical care available out here.
We are forced to pay premiums for insurance we are not using if we want to continue choosing our own physicians plus we are spending money out the wazoo for medical care. To my thinking this means that only those with the most money can choose the best physicians and the level of care that is best for health and longivity. The rest of us get whatever is available while we hope and pray the provider is at least competent. That is the very definition of socialized medicine.

Socialized medicine in rationed out by various methods. In Canada they give a clinc so much money a year and when it runs out after 7 or 8 months, they just have to close for the rest of the year. Canadians have to come down here and pay cash if they want treatment.

The Dems voted it in but the Repubs created the climate that put the Dems in control. Healthcare should have been dealt with many years ago but it got shoved aside time and again till the Czar was voted into office.

America gets what it votes into office while for the most part ignoring what is happening elsewhere in the world. This isn't new and it isn't going to end.
and yea my premiums went up again

I think what she is saying is that the Republicans governed like Democrats between 2001 and 2007, so America voted them out in 2006. It is 100% the Republicans' fault that we got Obama, Reid, and Pelosi in power....
And now we've got clowns like Boehner and McConnell wanting to govern like Democrats again.
The United States Constitution is under attack by the Democrat/Communist party.

Yes, the Republicans created the climate that put Democrats in control..but I sure never wanted Republicans to "do anything" about health care anymore I wanted Democrats to.

Thank you, Mark. You got the point.
Something had to be done as the populace was clamoring for healthcare reform.........and it was needed. BUT we didn't need this fiasco.
Just learned, today, that our cardiologist group has also gone concierge. So, we have lost 2 physicians since Jan. 1. Pretty danged devastating.

I must admit..I never heard any clamoring for healthcare reform..never.
But if there was..it should be no surprise at what we got. If people actually wanted the government to "do something"..did people believe things would improve when they actually did?

Things improved for some, I guess. Those some had nothing before. Now they have something for free while many of us are screwed. In other words the government is functioning as it always does.

Re: Obummercare just bit me in the butt
I'm guessing "Concierge" means..off the grid, so to speak.
I have a friend on the east coast that has a doctor that requests a yearly fee to sort of be on call for that person, and others that pay the fee..and doesn't work for the public at large.
I think this is a very good thing..(although I get the frustration if your favorite doctor just changed to this policy and is now charging more than you are willing to pay.)
But it's a good thing because it is a logical step to bring health care back into the world of Capitalism.
The person that pays the doctor fee gets direct service without having to pay for people that expect their health care for free.
I do hope this is the future..but probably not. The future is probably more and more health care welfare cases.
