AA: at Frisco 7, Midland (OAK) 2
Record: 38-25, +4.5, magic number 2
In his AA debut, 2013 1st-rounder Alex "Chi Chi" Gonzalez threw five innings marred only by a dubious 5th-inning double that the umpires ruled LF Trever Adams had trapped rather than caught. It looked like a catch to me, but in any case, Gonzalez handled his first assignment with aplomb, striking out six and expending just 61 pitches. He tallied seven swinging strikes.
Joey Gallo laced an opposite-field double (that a swifter outfielder might've nabbed, but anyway), golfed a 350-foot homer just fair down the right-field line and drew two walks, one on eight pitches. He's batting a robust .429/.556/1.429 in his first two AA games.
