Tired of Letterman

Postby BillB » Tue May 19, 2015 2:20 pm

I'm tired of Letterman's goodbye and will be glad when he is gone.
I don't watch him but I'm tired of reading about it.
I never thought he was funny.
Carson and Jack Paar were the only late night hosts I ever cared for.

30 years ago I found him mildly entertaining as best as I can remember, he might have been just a little better than Arsenic what's his name; in recent decades just a unfunny bitter lecherous libtard.

I never watched Letterman because he wasn't funny and wasn't a good interviewer. And I just can't stand that CREEPY band leader he had.

I'm with you, Bill. Say goodbye and go, Dave. Enough already. All I see are the promos and that's too much.

And agree that he wore thin for me probably 20 years ago. Silly things done when you are young are amusing. When you are beyond middle age and still doing them you just look stupid.
Working to love my fellow person regardless : >

Anyone watch his final show last night. I've been watching mainly to see the old clips when I liked Dave and to see the final guests. The final top ten list was funny each done by a former guest. Dave seemed truly surprised to see Peyton Manning.

We've been watching Jimmy Fallon, but lately realizing we are NOT in his demographic and it seems like Saturday Night Live Lite. We miss the real interviews with notables without the overwhelming personality of the interviewer interfering or turning the chat into a party game.

We watched Letterman last night, mostly to say good riddance, and we were surprised that suddenly we appreciated the dry humor and the parade of celebs we actually recognized.

I enjoyed the show until I couldn't stay up any longer - about an hour's worth. I'll look for the rest of the show online and finish watching it.

More than anything, the show last night really made me miss Johnny Carson. Nobody, but nobody did it better than Johnny.

I agree with you on Johnny. Did you ever listen to Dennis Miller's radio show? I did when they had it on at a time I could listen to it. Wish he had a TV talk show.

Speaking of old comedians, Bob Newhart is touring and will be at the Verizon Theater in Grand Prairie soon. He has to be getting on up there....

Wonder if he's still funny? Gotta hand it to him that he's still out there performing. Saw Don Rickles on TV recently. He needs help getting around but seems to still be sharp mentally.
