They are all over the place. There is a nest right above one of our porch
benchs. 3 babies are poking their heads out. Mom and dad are swooping
all around me.

Ya can't lick 'em. They are do persistent. We now have a 9th nest over the door of the garage located where our old house was. Every time the cat goes outside the barn swallows nesting around the house have a fit. I can tell exactly where she is by listening to the birds.

I like birds..dogs don't kill them, and the birds seem to have no fear of them.

I've never been a cat fan either. With 2 exceptions all the cats we've had were dumped on us or rescued as strays.

Our yorkies try and occasionally catch and kill birds. They are just doing
what comes naturally.

I really like birds and I have several feeders. But I really hate barn swallows and the messes they make.

Sue, came back to the house yesterday to feed our dogs and give them some attention. Izzie, the oldest yorkie, came up to me and dropped a baby scissortail at my feet. She had killed it and was very proud of herself.

I've never been so mad at made 94 lb American Bulldog , as when he caught and killed a bird !! I don't have cats for that reason and the dang dog got one

We used to have a cow dog mix who caught and killed gophers, for which we were very happy. She also occasionally caught birds. Made her very unpopular.

I've caught my youngest poodle, Alex with birds a couple of times. He gets seriously chastised.

Well, I gotta disagree there. We had a dog whose natural urge was to kill chickens. I taught her not to kill chickens and she became their biggest defender. She was Star - the smartest dog we've ever owned.

A kid's natural inclination might be to club another kid over the head with a brick but it's the parents job to teach correct behavior.

I've taught Alex not to go tearing out into the backyard pursuing whatever is out there. Got serious after he and Harry got skunk sprayed last year. He now stops on a dime and comes back inside when I tell him to.

Dogs like to chase squirrels too. One time my mom's dog caught one. We kids thought it was cool, but Mom did not. We found out why the next time her two Boston Terrier's got ahold of one. They had the squirrels by each end. The dog that had the squirrel by the head was bitten multiple times and seriously injured. The poor dogs were tired of being tormented by the squirrels time after time.

Yeah, I'd think a squirrel would be a pretty formidable foe for a little dog.
