beautiful night!

Postby grouchy » Sat May 30, 2015 12:34 am

Woke up about ten minutes ago. I am on the side porch swing looking out across the valley towards Maypearl. No wind, lots of bugs making their sounds and what sounds like several hundred frogs at the tank. 'tis a wonderful thing!
Hope y'all are having a great night.

The predicted rain went north into Oklahoma so it is a quiet night. First time I remember thinking it was a good thing that it didn't rain.

I just took a look at the radar out of Dyess AFB. There is some storms out west heading this direction. About 4 hours away, maybe they will die out.

I just heard thunder! I checked the WFAA radars and here it comes. It's moving fast.

There must have been a bunch of stuff to the west of us. I've been seeing lightning and hearing some thunder for hours.............probably since 2 a.m. lightly raining here now with a band of stuff to the west headed our way. And the brilliant Natl. Weather Service says 40%. Looks more like 100% to me.

Didn't hit here until just after 5:30. Kind of an odd time for a storm. Raining hard now.

It got here about 6. I gave Sadie some benadryl in hopes that she can stay calmer.

It's tapering off now, but still raining. Probably 2 to 3 in. All that water is going into the lakes, out the spillways, and into the big rivers and cause more flooding. But, at least this is the last one for the next week or so.

Heh! My flowers are so used to daily rain that if it doesn't come till evening, they start to wilt. Spoiled flowers! But I do water them so I guess I'm the one spoiling them. Our swimming pool is gulping up the chlorine and it's being diluted by the minute. The lightening was very close and hit a transformer awhile ago. I guess it wasn't "our" transformer because we only lost power for a couple seconds. Our utilities are buried but I'm pretty sure the transformer isn't!

Bob managed to get about 1/8th of the back yard mowed before it started raining again yesterday afternoon. So the boys no longer have to disappear into the chest (more like top of the back high on Alex who has stubby legs) high grass to poop. I was beginning to be concerned about snakes in the high grass. Glad I wear boots to feed the equines because the grass between here and their barn is as tall or taller than the back yard. I've yet to see a snake but then again you seldom do see them.
