Any other football widows on here?
Any other football widows on here?
World cup footy has taken over my OH's life...if there is no match being televised he is catching up on the ones that were recorded when he was unavailable to watch.
I will watch England play tonight...11pm kick off local time...and thats as far as I'm going till they play again, and if anyone is wondering ...yes I am female ...and I do understand the offside rule.

World Cup is not a joy for most in the US. It is ignored by the majority of the population......However, come next fall, there will be many males and females glued to the TV screen.

I may come over for the next couple of weeks then.
The USA are in the world cup...so I thought people might be as obsessed with grown men kicking a ball around as they are here.
I am not a huge sports fan....whats happening next Autumn/ fall?

Oh no...not killing little birds, I think I may prefer the pointless kicking of a ball around, at least nothing dies.

.
Soccer 101
A bunch of guys in shorts run around kicking a ball, but not touching it with their hands.
If an opponent touches them above the waist they fall down, roll around in pain and grab their head.
If an opponent touches them below the waist, same histrionics with their leg.
Complete recovery usually occurs within thirty seconds.

Lucky lot. I dont know any male (and plenty females) who are not avidly watching every flipping match here...and they seem to be on continuously.
England lost to Italy in their first game last night....so you can imagine the glum expressions walking round today.
edit...the USA do have a team playing in the world cup though dont they?

Well that still leaves enough people to fill your Dallas stadium 4 times over.

Mexico and Brazil pulled about 85,000 into the old Cowboys Stadium a couple of years ago. (It's now called AT&T Stadium.)
