If this had happened a year ago I would have already attended one. Can't happen now.
It's ok if you disagree with me.
I can't force you to be right.

If one of the two lovebirds was a close relative..yes.

Otherwise, no.

I know gay people..but they mostly like to stay amongst their own close friends.

The only things that would limit my attendance at weddings would be whether I was invited and whether I knew the
couple well enough to be missed if I did not go.

Weddings and their receptions are boring out the wazoo.

They are mostly a colossal waste of time, and are inexcusably expensive. They are almost universally a mockery
of the religious symbolism supposedly the reason for the damn thing in the first place.

That being said a wedding is a remarkably good occasion for eating and drinking too much, and, if planned well, all free!

(This is what regifting is intended for.)

I think when the dust settles, we're all going to learn that most of the people we know that believe we just HAD to have gay weddings, are people that think weddings are a "colossal waste of time."

You want to talk boring - showers - now those are BOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRING..............unless you're on the receiving end.

Weddings are only expensive if the participants think they have to be and are willing to spend the money. All the fru fru stuff isn't at all necessary. Bob and I did our wedding on the cheap. We were both independent adults so we paid for it ourselves. It was a lovely wedding, performed by my favorite minister, very meaningful, and inexpensive. The reception was short and sweet. It was all we wanted it to be.

Ours was fine (and has lasted 49 years on the 23rd.)

It was a decidedly religio-spiritual nuptial that cost
less than $15 grand. It didn't take more than 15 minutes
and nobody got all weird, nervous or bent out of
shape.

Oh, and homosexuals weddings. I am traditional
enough that it might feel funny ... but I'd be more
than glad to beam my approval all about.

Sounds like yours was much like ours. At least the emphasis was right! We climbed onto a good spiritual
path that has lasted and improved with time.

The average price for weddings these day is, I
think, over $25K. And almost none of them should be taking place in a church. I don't have the time or the
space to enumerate the misbehaviors, outrages and blasphemies that seem part of the scene now.

I went to one wedding with a western theme and All the guys wore cowboy hats throughout the
whole service. Gag a maggot off a gut wagon!!! Can you picture the groom tipping his hat in order to kiss
the bride???

Congrats on 49 years! Now that is love! :D

We are at 35 in October. I don't think we will make 50 because we were 34 and 32 years old when we married.

Our wedding cost less than $300.

I think all the stupid wedding reality shows have given the impression that no one reveres the ceremony any more. I choose to believe that is not true of the majority of people. But those people aren't gonna be appearing on television because they have class.

Western theme weddings are all the rage out here. The bride wears formal attire and the groom wears black Wranglers, boots with, of course, the hat. Oh and rather than draping things with tulle they use burlap.

I don't know when it became acceptable to keep the hat on at all times. I was called for jury duty a couple of months ago. The judge had to tell the men to remove their hats for the Pledge of Allegiance because none of them knew to do it. Sheeeeesssshhhh.

I have, one time. I wasn't going to go, but I was talked into it by a clergy member who I once respected.

I would never go to one again and am truly sorry I attended that one.

I would not go to a gay wedding. Nor a polygamy wedding, nor a cousin-on-cousin wedding, etc. Don't reflect my values and don't want to tacitly endorse by being there.
