I wish a buck was still silver
It was back when the country was strong
Back before Elvis
Before the Vietnam war came along
The Dollar is weaker, the Country is weaker, music sucks even worse, and we are in a Multi- Generational War with Islam.
Before The Beatles and 'Yesterday'
When a man could still work, still would
The best of the free life behind us now
And are the good times really over for good?
Popular Music sucks these days for the most part as stated earlier.
The percentage of particpants in the work force is about where it was 30 odd years ago, more are employed in Part-Time Jobs, real wages are even less.
Are we rolling down hill
Like a snowball headed for Hell?
With no kind of chance
For the Flag or the Liberty Bell
The Hell Bound Snowball is picking up speed, and the Flag & Liberty Bell are considered Micro-Aggression by the White Privileged Population.
Wish a Ford and a Chevy
Could still last ten years, like they should
Is the best of the free life behind us now?
Are the good times really over for good?
Fords and Chevys have improved ! And we should be thankful because we can afford a new buy a vehicle every eleven years.
I wish Coke was still Cola
And a joint was a bad place to be
It was back before Nixon lied to us all on TV
Cocaine is much less "trendy" a very good thing, Weed is legal in more states; and Clinton and Obama make Nixon look like a Saint by comparison. Even Dubya was an embarrasment with his lies.
Before microwave ovens
When a girl could still cook and still would
The best of the free life behind us now
Are the good times really over for good?
Not only do Girls not cook, we have to do a DNA test to find out if they are really a Girl!
Are we rolling down hill
Like a snowball headed for Hell?
With no kind of chance
For the Flag or the Liberty Bell
See above
Wish a Ford and a Chevy
Could still last ten years, like they should
Is the best of the free life behind us now?
Are the good times really over for good?
See above
Stop rolling down hill
Like a snowball headed for Hell
Stand up for the Flag
And let's all ring the Liberty Bell
We can try, but I am afraid it is a lost cause.
Let's make a Ford and a Chevy
Still last ten years like they should
The best of the free life is still yet to come
The good times ain't over for good
Other than Vehicles and a brief respite under Reagan, Merle, and I believe freedom and good times are over for the next hundred years.

Yeah, he kind of blew it on vehicles. I'm driving a 12 year old Ford Explorer and have to plan to change anytime soon. He should have said before airbags.

The Song was released circa 1982 - vehicles were worse then than now, IMO.

And probably would have stayed that way if the Japs hadn't started kicking their butts. I bought my first Toyota in 1982.

I own an old Toyota Landcruiser; and would consider buying one of their Trucks.

I bought a used Toyota Sequoia in Addison for my brother that he found on line. He keeps it at his place in Colorado and loves it.Red Oak wrote:I own an old Toyota Landcruiser; and would consider buying one of their Trucks.
