My son keeps trying to kill me...

Postby Zelda » Tue Jun 17, 2014 6:52 am

So she goes to the papers and names and shames him, complete with several pics of him smiling innocently towards the camera.
Why do parents feel the need to expose their children in the media when they are obviously suffering from an illness that needs medical help not public scrutiny?
I had to laugh at the line..."I just want to wrap my arms around him and protect him from everything"

JJ, 9, is so full of anger that he has stabbed mother Bobbi several times, tried to push her under a truck and even plotted to kill her

Little JJ looks like butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth. With his blond locks, blue eyes and angelic smile, he could be the perfect son.

But the reality is so much darker. Nine-year-old JJ violently attacks his mum Bobbi on an almost daily basis.

He has stabbed her, tried to push her under a truck and even plotted to kill her.

And it’s not just his mother who suffers – JJ was excluded from school after he left two of the teachers needing hospital
treatment for a detached retina and a suspected broken wrist.

Bobbi says: “He has this absolute anger and strength you wouldn’t imagine. He punches me, kicks me, pulls my hair.

"He has the worst temper I’ve ever seen in a child.”

Shocking as it may seem, Bobbi isn’t the only mother who lives in constant fear of her own young child.

Helplines receive more than 11,000 calls each year from adults who are victims of violent attacks they cannot escape – because the abusers are their own children.

Sometimes I think it's the parent's lack of attention and the need to draw drama toward them. If that were me, I definitely wouldn't be posting anything like that on-line. I would quietly deal with it through doctors and specialists.

It's such a sad story; lord only knows just how many children are just that disturbed on a global level.

The Mother told her story to one of the most popular newspapers in GB...the story is now international, and the poor child will have a lot more pressure because of it.

The article states that helplines receive more than 11,000 calls each year from parents who are violently abused by their own kids.
Seems like this is a problem that is hushed up.

Maybe the mother thinks that someone will come forward to help her or get the boy psychiatric help. :?:

The boy definately needs psychiatric help, and it should be available without revealing his identity to the tabloids.
I think the way some parents run to the press (complete with family snaps) when their kids differ from the norm is wrong on so many levels.

I know people who have died when the parent was in denial their child was violent. Not crazy about the publicity for a child this young, but whatever it takes to get him the help he needs. The alternative is not near as pleasant.

Ignoring a violent child is not the alternative to what she has done though.
Obviously this lad needs help, there are different avenues to explore, but making him known nationally for his behaviour is not one of them.
This article will isolate him even further, possibly causing his behaviour to worsen....and for what?

According to the article, she's seen a lot of professional help, and most of them were/are telling her it's nothing - she's obviously looking for better help with the problem than she's getting, so I can't blame her for going public with it. Keeping quiet is not going to get her that help. My guess is that show they're on has offered to pay for more help for being on the show. If the article is correct, she's gotten some very bad advice up to now (at least it appears that way to me).

I'm not sure why she has chosen to go public, obviously we are not in her shoes and maybe she feels so desperate she will try anything.

Sometimes it's hard to get the right help, but given her son has shown his violent nature for a long time, threatening and actually hurting people outside the home as well as in it, including two teachers who both needed hospital treatment....it does seem odd that she says the problems her son has are not taken seriously.

Kids with far fewer mental and social problems than her child has get professional care/therapy on the NHS....so something has gone awry somewhere.

Reading the article again it seems she was upset that she wasn't offered respite care for her son as it's not him that is in danger.
Respite is not normally offered to ease the parents burden unless a child is severly handicapped.
She has also withdrawn his medication because she says it wasn't helping...he is now on no medication.
