..and could you get in to see the doctor of your choice today?..or tomorrow?
You can't do that here either if it's a good doctor. It took me 2 1/2 months to get an appointment with a new doctor recently.
I don't think the end is near anymore. :D I think it's HERE! :o

I can always get in to see my doctor at Kaiser today..or tomorrow if it his her day off..in which case I can get in today to see a doctor that is covering for her.
If you’re “woke”..you’re a loser.

I can always see my specialist or my regular doctor within 2 days ..I've never had to wait two weeks or 2 months ..I also saw a new doctor ( neurologist) for my back pain within 1 week of calling his office ..no problem getting in ..

Two different countries with completely different systems, I can only talk about the one I know.

Zelda, if you needed Knee replacement , could you get it done within two weeks after you and your doctor decide it is the way to go ? maybe even in the next week as I did both knee replacements ?

Do you mean a GP at the practice I am listed with?
If so probably, or if he isn't available another practionioner at the same practice usually on the day I request.

Funny you should say that Scarlett, I am just recovering from a total knee replacement. :)

No, it would take more than a week or two, but once I was listed with the surgeon who would perform the op I was in control of when I wanted it done. I actually put mine off for a couple of years. When I decided the time was right it took several weeks to get the hospital appointment because I was not an emergency.
Once I had the op ( a month ago) the hospital care was brilliant, as is the physio that has followed.

My surgeon, as do many, also work privately, and the only difference is the speed of which your op will be performed.
I cant see the hospital care or the follow ups being bettered tbh.

my husband and I have been on medicare for 7 years , same doctor...no problem ..his back fusions, no problem, my knee replacements no problem ...I have no complaints with my medical care at all and did not before medicare ..I am just thankful that I won't be around for socialized (obamacare) medicine and feel sorry that my children and grandchildren will be. Yes, I realize medicare is socialized medicine ..I'd prefer to be younger and have my own private insurance, I liked it that way.

Fortunately, Unless you mean Part B,I don't have to do that. Mine is free. But, you still have to have a doctor that will accept medicare and a lot of the best ones won't because they don't have to.

We are free to go privately if we wish. We have only needed to do that once when waiting was not an option.

Our dermatologist is a really cool old dude. Has more business than he can handle and says he takes what Medicare pays and doesn't complain. Bet he still makes a fortune. You know what they say about dermatologists... Their patients seldom die and few get well. Perfect for doctors.

I think dermatology is kind of a racket. I never went to one until I was on medicare. Now, I go twice a year for a "checkup". Why not? It's free!
