Cricket the Yorkie is a mess

Postby Bob Of Burleson » Fri Jun 27, 2014 9:21 pm

Covered from stem to stern in grassburs — not sandburs but small black burs that are like Velcro. They cling to one another as well as to her hair, so she's matted. You can't even see one eye.

Cricket was chasing a rabbit in a field where we walk every afternoon and when she started gaining on him, the critter dived into the underbrush at the back of the field. Naturally, she went in after him, and when she came out, she was in this state.

You can't just comb out these burs. It's like they're part of her and you have to extract them individually and with difficulty. What a mess!

Be sure and collect all of them, or they will get planted in your yard.

No rest for your household as you pick those burrs out.

Maybe it is time for Cricket to get a summer haircut--a buzz job!
(wouldn't the poor dog look pitiful with no hair!)

She's now about one-quarter deburred.
