They want to retire old OS's as quickly as possible. What adds to the problem is web-based platforms like Youtube stop supporting old web browsers. I have a laptop that still runs fine on XP, but it's almost useless to me for web browsing. It won't download an upgrade to Quick Time Player at all.

Quick Time Player is not supported by Apple, and is recommended to be uninstalled from all computers.

That's interesting, because the computer in question has Trend Micro security on it. You would think it would have detected Quicktime on the computer and alerted me when I tried to download an upgrade. What's more, the whole reason for having Quicktime on this computer is because my I.T. Department will not allow me to install Quicktime on my desktop PC (although they did it for a certain VP when the request came from the right person). Makes it hard to work with MOV files, so I have to find alternatives.

If you just need to play the movies, I would use the vlc player
www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

If you need to do other things with them, I'm not sure what i would use.

me, I LIKE Windows 10.. and I like Edge as a browser far more than the cumbersome Firefox or Chrome. The whole experience (Windows 10) has been great.

Didn't catch my attempt at a kind of a smile in depraved world, did you?
I had provisionally decided you were a stripe above all that.

My son, who just opened up his news W10 computer, after 4 days likes it.
He said it has the good features on Win7 and got rid of the nonsense in Win8.

Have not used Win10 yet.

Just about anything has a learning curve so not everybody is going to like. So, I'm working with sound files
and I don't want to leave the keyboard or look away so I jest sez, 'Cortana, what's the weather?' And she tells
me in the sweetest little old voice.

Oh? It's sunny. 79 degrees and low humidity. Same tomorrow! But that's just a sniff at what she'll do and she
really pisses Siri off
