Sending the national guard to the airports to take peoples temperature makes even less sense than sending them to the border to do nothing. Just a huge waste of taxpayers money to make Perry look like a big man.

Taking temperatures at the airport! What kind of a "plan" is that? And the airlines already do that!

I confess--his (Perry's plan) is OK, perhaps even prudent.

But, maybe I just have Ebola fatigue, but was the decision worthy of a press conference? ..I don't think so. Just implement the plan and go on. It wasn't on the "stop the press" level to me.

And then Perry would attacked for doing things behind closed doors.

Plan for what? We have an entire national and state healthcare systems to deal with disease. Who is asking for a separate system for a disease that hasn't even killed anybody here yet?

I agree Sangersteve. I'm so sick of "extremely low" in relation to contracting ebola coming from our administration. I just heard the father (a physician himself) of the patient in Nebraska say that his son can only think of one way he contracted it....by spraying a vehicle with chlorine and it might have splashed back on him. That's NOT direct contact with an ebola patient.

I don't need the Governor's help to whip me into a frenzy & panic.

The "Perry Plan" includes establishing "quarenteen stations" at the airports to herd people into if they have a temperture to be checked out and wait to see if they get sick. How many people are going to fly into DFW if they think they may have to spend a few days in close quarters with some sick people after they land. They might as well just close the airport.

Plano, you have been asked a couple of times to present an alternative plan. What is your plan?

I don't see any need for a "plan" because I don't see a problem. They are using this as a boogie man like the swine flu.
Read Jon Rappaport's recent posts. He has been writing about these kind of situations for years.
"No scientist who owes his job and reputation to the CDC or any other conventional medical organization will press these questions, but there are plenty of independent scientists who can step forward.

Now is the time. The Dallas patient is being used to forward a fear/quarantine/vaccine agenda.

Notice—absolutely nothing is being said about the most important fact in this equation: the strength of a person’s immune system and its superior ability to throw off a virus on its own.

Of course not. That would undercut the fact that selling drugs and vaccines is the number-one ambition of the medical industry."

Fair enough. Is there any point in time that can be quantified at which point you would say "this is a problem"? IOW, how many deaths would it take to constitute a problem? Not asking sarcastically; just wanting to know.

And if that point is reached or exceeded, will you be saying that "the government should have done something" or will you be satisfied that no action was needed until sufficient levels of urgency were reached?

In general I would say we need to stop looking to the nanny state to solve our problems. Take some personal responsibility for a change. I thought "Don't do stupid shit" was a good plan. Problem was Obama never followed it. Is this a world wide killer pandemic or another "swine flu"? We can't even stop the regular flu with a nationwide vaccination program. Thousands of people still die every year. Not a single person in the US has died from Ebola yet. Get a grip! Don't let politicians like Perry lead you around on a leash.

No one is leading me around on a leash. Your knowledge of contagious disease is breathtaking in its ignorance. "Have a good immune system and you won't get sick". What a load of crap. Do you actually believe this?!? Looks like you are the one being lead around friend.

First Plan-0 criticizes Perry for waiting until an emergency occurred before taking action, then he implies it is no big deal because no one has died from it in the US.

From end to the other, can't wait until he blames the Massad or the overthrow of Saddam.

It works for me. I've never had a flu shot since the military, not had the flu since I was a child. Can't even remember the last time I had a cold.

So I guess Florida and and New York officials are idiots as well. By the way no One screamed anything, it is a logical response to an issue.

In Florida, which last week screened a patient for Ebola, the health department ordered 30 testing kits from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta and requested 100 units of personal protective equipment, according to a statement from Governor Rick Scott, a 62-year-old Republican.

“The state is requesting increased federal resources out of an abundance of caution for the unlikely event that we may have an extended response that warrants additional resources,” said Scott.

New York City continually updates its Ebola website, which includes information for health-care providers, day-care centers, schools and colleges, said Jean Weinberg, a spokeswoman for the city’s health department.

New York state has developed protocols and is working with hospitals to be prepared to handle an Ebola case, said Governor Andrew Cuomo at a press briefing today.

“It’s something we have to be aware of and we are aware of it and we are preparing,” said Cuomo, a 56-year-old Democrat.

Calling a disease that has yet to kill a single person in the whole country a "pandemic" is not logical or anything close to it. The idea of herding people flying into DFW into quaranteen rooms if they have an temperature is crazy. Whether it's Rick Perry saying it or anybody else.
