BTW - if an F-16 can get shot down by small arms fire, that doesn't speak well of the Fighting Falcon. Another reason to keep the A-10 Warthog.

I have heard that the most effective anti-aircraft defense at low to mid elevations is .50 caliber machine guns firing random patterns.
