I think if you wanted to privatize anything you would do it when your party controlled the congress, not wait until you had already lost control and expect it to pass.

SS reform was part of Bushs campaign in 2000 and he was elected.
Didn't do it, decided to invade a couple countries, when other options were available.

It was difficult to find someone in 2003 that was not only gung ho about both of the wars, but political leaders from both Parties, and leaders from all over the world were demanding we go into Iraq.

Then when the Iraq War became less popular, political leaders and people whose opinions are tied to what's on the nightly news, ran for the hills.

People whose principles don't fluctuate with the political winds, or with pop/societal trends..are not ashamed of their opinions, and unless some devious information becomes available years later about why we did what we did, they don't alter them. None has.
