I don't necessarily agree that he was denigrating Christianity.

I can easily imagine Rev. Billy Graham saying that Christians don't give enough to the poor. As far as I can tell that's all the guy said.

I'm talking about in the public school setting. Christianity is either out or in.

I agree and I've posted that two or three times.
All I'm saying is that it is not clear whether he is an anti-Christian or a Christian fundamentalist. His statement could come from either side, depending on his context.
Whatever he meant and whatever his agenda, it belongs in church not in the public schools.

I disagree, Bill..although I do understand that is widely believed.

I just think things have gotten crazy with disallowing people to speak their minds on religious subjects.

I think people should be able to speak their minds on religious subjects.
I just don't want the government or any of its agents to help form children's religious beliefs.
That should be left to the parents and/or their church.

The teachers form all kinds of things in children's heads.

We are becoming a nation ruled by the offended.

I say to people..shut up and be offended.

Gregg, we'll just have to disagree. We disagree on a lot of things.
The good thing is we do it with civility and we don't need any insults.

Yes, people here do know how to do that.

And I'm stuck in an airport..and I'm tempted to say.."like usual."

They just took our plane out for a test drive around the airport..(not kidding)

When it returns, we get the really good news!!!

..or not.

He made a mistake. He acknowledged that fact.
In reference to something Bill B posted about
a lot of Christians don't really practice Christianity. I was raised
to be in church every time the doors were opened. I led singing
for years. I taught bible study to young kids. Having said that,
I can no longer participate in organized religion. It is my problem,
no one else's. I just cannot enjoy hypocrisy.

I'm just reading this. You should have sent me a text, and I would have brought you over something edible. I live about 10 minutes from the airport.

Thanks, jello..but you'd be surprised how good a medium rare rib eye and a tall Coors Light at TGI Friday's can taste after the airlines have been jerking you around for 10 or 12 hours.

I would like to hear his thoughts on the hypocrisy of Islam, particularly the why the "religion of peace" has such an inordinate number of murderers in it.

But I doubt he has the guts to talk about islam.

Which, if he doesn't, is itself hypocritical.

G.W. Bush labeled Islam the "religion of peace".
I don't think Islam claims that for itself. I might be wrong.

I voted for Bush twice, but there was plenty he was wrong about and this somewhere around the top of the list.

I have heard plenty of muslims talk about how peaceful the religion is, but lets face it; everytime a building blows up or a plane crashes the first thing we all think of (including muslims) is muslim terrorists. Based on history, their reputation is well-deserved.
