I don't think Germany or Japan are shining examples. I lived in both countries. Japan is on the brink of economic disaster. Germany and the EU are too.

Take it from me..the two countries you lived in are two of the most successful economies in the world..and enjoy higher standards of living, no matter how you slice it..than 90% of the world.

I don't agree as far as Japan. The standard of living of the average Japanese is not that good and the economy has stagnated for probably the last 20 years. The future is a lot dimmer as the whole country is rapidly turning into an old folks home. Germany is being dragged down by the rest of the EU which is economicly dead wood. When the euro collapses we'll see how well they do.

No Germany is saving, bailing out, constantly rescuing the rest of the EU zone..because they are so strong.

Without them, never would have happened.

The Euro has shown itself to be a very strong currency!
