Red Oak is big on name calling then pointing fingers when he thinks someone else is name calling...........even when they aren't. I just take it as a compliment, considering the source, and move on. But you are right to be offended. It's rude and disrespectful and, to my thinking, detracts from the value of anything he says. He is the source of my sig. If the "religious conservatives" want to get all Biblical let them look up exactly what Jesus said about homosexuality. That would be NOTHING. The other supposed statements are, like many many Bible passages, open to interpretation and different translation of original texts. This subject has been discussed ad nauseum just about everywhere.

My home church, First Baptist Austin, has recently made a statement about acceptance of ALL and is happy to conduct marriage ceremonies for committed Christians regardless of sexual orientation. Looks like my brother and his partner may be getting married there. I sincerely believe God is smiling.

Will you support churches' rights to choose to not conduct such ceremonies?

Don't feel lonely. Our beloved Red Oak has had it out for me since I correctly guessed he was an engineer. He picks those he dislikes and chooses not to let up. I find it childish and petulant but kind of amusing in a way. He also seems to love being able to get under the skin of those he dislikes. I found it's best to respond without sliding down to his level..............which is why I often refer to loving him despite himself..............which I do. He has a right to his opinions, as do we all. But he doesn't seem to know how to express them without attacking and belittling others. He needs a little remedial education in that department.
