A yes vote means things will be easier in the near future and worse later on. So, I wouldn't be surprised if they do. But, they will be doomed in the future if they do.

also , seems to me that being under control of euro bosses might irk the heck out of Greeks , especially the older Greeks . Why be Greek if your rulers are a buncha weenies in 'belgium' . And , the little reading I've done on the vote I've read comments that say that older Greeks are more apt to vote NO !! should see pretty quick I suppose .

Can you explain how and why the world should value a new Greek currency?

The only thing this completely loser country has going for it..is the euro..and being tied to a few prosperous countries.

The Greek leadership told people to vote no because he thinks they will get a BETTER deal from Europe..not so that they would break away. He knows they're doomed if they do.

I think he's nuts..but if the Germans come crawling back with even MORE bailout money..the Greek Prime Minster is the genius of the century..hard to imagine that'll be the case.

No..as long as their currency us the euro..Greeks can't print money.

Only the European Central Bank can..Europe's equivalent of our Federal Reserve.

If the country somehow found a work ethic, and had some kind of decent credit rating..they could borrow money and have an economy again.

The ability to borrow money is essential to any business or any country..to continue.

RECOVER to what , all Greece ever was outside its history was a picturesque place to travel to for Greek food , ambiance , a few liquors , islands , fishing but that's about it I think . Tourists will still visit Greece and its islands I think . Yeah , some information on Greece would be fine . Heck , as an American if I could cut ALL ties to foreign bodies and govs I'd probably vote the same as the GREEKS did

thanks Greg and I'm not being argumentative just for its sake but going by what you say seems to me that they get rid of the 'euro' , print the 'drachma' for internal circulation or go back to gold , silver , barter and the tourist trade that they probably got along fine on until the 'euro union' came along . I mean , what comes out of Greece that they need the Belgium bosses for ??

England was smart enough to not join the euro zone.

"European Union" (EU) is sort of a treaty in which they all can move freely from one country to another with no passports.

And after we as Americans have entered one of them, we can move in and out of all of them until we exit the region.

In that respect, they are sort of like one country. England joined into that.

The "Euro Zone" is the countries that signed onto one currency..yes, a few did not.

England did not..Switzerland did not.
