Vacation Plans

Postby John in Plano » Sun Jun 01, 2014 2:53 pm

Anyone got a trip planed for this summer or year.

We're heading to Mexico for 7 days of fun, sun, tequila, cerveza, good food, friends and music.
It's ok if you disagree with me.
I can't force you to be right.

None yet. Still trying to recover from two weddings last year. Not to mention a couple of "slow pay" clients.
Where in Mexico you headed?
Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore.

I am suppose to be in Dry Ridge, Kentucky for a wedding on July 19th. I am trying to get my business in shape enough that I can drive up there for it and then visit four counties in Ohio where I kin folk either living or dead that I can visit. I ordered a new car (Yukon) hopefully it will be in for the trip.

We haven't had a vacation in 5 years or so..and are still unable to.

At Prissy's age..I can go away..the wife can go away....but one of us must always be home.

(we can go out for a few hours, but that's it.)

..and we instituted a "no fly rule for" for Prissy when she turned 15 or so.

This is our busiest summer ever; maybe too busy. Taking the kids to Disney, family reunion, Galveston then Sky Ranch in Ute Trail, CO. I'm sure it'll be fun but exhausting.

gfb, I can't imagine how terrified my Annabelle would be as cargo in a plane.
I also can't remember the last real vacation we have taken. I would love to go hiking in the hills

No, none of our dogs have been in cargo..they go "in cabin."

(Realize not everyone can do that)

But even "in cabin"..we stopped that with Prissy a few years ago.

These days, even going in the car requires one of us to hold her tight.

I'll be driving straight to Denver, turn around, come back. Separate thread on this to follow.

Just took my foster pet to her new home (yay :D ) in D.C. In the cabin. She was perfect until the plane started up, then she was terrified to entire flight. Fortunately I had the row to myself so I could keep her in my lap.

Did Sanibel earlier this year. Charleston SC this month for a graduation. Hope to fit in Destin or Belize in the fall.

Sorry your not able to go on vacation with your wife, pets are family members so I do understand why.

We are fortunate to have good friends to trade off pet sitting for vacations!

However, this year we are expecting a grandson late July. Hubby wanted to go to Tahoe 2nd week of July to catch a concert....But I said No! Don't want to chance missing our son and his sons birth. We do have a short Vegas vacation planned for Sept.

Last year we were in S California. I'd be there again in a heartbeat.

not judging anyone

for the last 10 years or so we've hired a person we know to stay at our house and take care of our bird and dog.

We supply food they request and cash, $100 a week

Cooper is on twice a day meds...bird is loud

I'm all for that, John..but no one other than us could take care of Prissy at her age.

Eventually, dogs do not give the typical signals when they need food, water, or to go out.

We know her..what she needs..when she needs it..no dog sitter could do it..or would do it.

I completely understand this. We stayed closer to home the last year of our dog Poohs life. He just needed more care, and our being gone would be stressful on an already tired body. After 14 years of devotion and companionship, it was an easy decision.
