Are there any Freemasons in the group?
I'm not one, but I'm just curious.
Does anyone know a Mason? I can't say that I do anymore.

Obviously you never saw The Kingfish on "Amos and Andy". That was his lodge.

I personally know three Masons. I don't their ranks. I'm a charter member of a Lions Club.

Do you have to be a stone mason, to actually be a mason?

Sorry if I over reacted, I just get tired of the trolls and the stupid conspiracy shows on tv. I'm actually surprised there are that many of us on this board. There are only about 2 million total in the US and you could probably fit all us in Texas into the Cowboy stadium.

Things have changed.
I went to work for Southwestern Bell about 50 years ago.
One of the first things I was told was to become a Mason if I wanted to get anywhere with the company.
It was true. Every management person I knew was a Mason.
I went into the service shortly after that and when I got back 4 years later that seemed to have changed. I got promoted a year or two later without becoming a Mason. I respected Masonry. I just never got around to trying to join.

My dad is a Mason, and I still don't really know what it means.

Is there some kind of relationship between the Masons and the Shriners?

I was approached about 10 years ago by a Mason who politely asked me if I had an interest in the Masons.

I politely declined.

The last 20 years of my life have been dedicated to raising my kids. I dropped out of Lion Clubs, because I couldn't spend the time required to serve effectively.

If I do any service type organization, it will be with Lions again.
