Does anyone here use the Ring system? If you do, what is your opinion of it? Is there a monthly charge? Any information you could share would be appreciated.

They sure are popular here.
..and it seems like all the brand new homes come with the system.

I was looking at those a few months ago, but I heard that the Ring 2 was coming out, so I figured I'd wait a bit longer.

We got one as a Christmas gift last year. After 4 months experience, I'd never buy one. Continual "motion at the front door" false alarms. I paid $30 for a year's worth of Ring videos stored on the Ring site.
After making 4 support calls Ring finally said the false alarms were because we have 8 steps up to our front door. That makes the Ring motion detector point at the street. I works on a heat signature so it was picking up most every vehicle going down the street. They sent me a Wedge Kit. It points the Ring down more. Problem is that it doesn't mount the same way to the house. I was not going to take off the original mounting bracket, mounted with a hole at each corner drilled in the brick, to mount the wedge kit which is mounted to the house with two middle holes. I unscrewed the top two bracket mounting screws, made a piece to fit the top and that pointed the Ring down somewhat. That has reduced our false alarms by a lot but we still get them.
So, as the final answer to your question, we have one but I'd rather just have the old doorbell system. It never had a false alarm. Oh, and every Ring alarm is stored on your phone and at some point that has to be cleaned out.

When you said you would rather have "the old doorbell system," did you mean that when people come to the door that they ring your doorbell?

Yes, I'd rather have the doorbell someone has to punch the button to ring, than the Ring system that rings when there is movement it detects. Or when it is punched to ring.

I like the idea of being notified when someone is on my porch so that I can see when packages are being delivered. But I certainly don't want something that's buggy.
