S.O.S = Creamed beef on toast.
It's one of the most maligned foods I can think of.
I think everybody hates it but me.
I love it.
Are there any other fans?

Best Army meal I had. Always looked forward to it. Stouffer's creamed Chip Beef is a pretty good replacement but is hard to find

Army brat. We used to have it all the time when I was a kid; I always liked it. Haven't had it in a long time.

Actually I was an Air Force Brat! We had it at home every once in a while but my Dad hated it!
Definition of an Army Brat: A child dependent of someone (usually an Officer) in the Army. Same with the
Air Force, Navy or marines!

It was OK, but a pretty heavy meal. Fortunately, we had other things much lighter to choose from. I didn't live on base very long so didn't eat on base.

Just for fun I looked for some SOS recipes online yesterday.
You would be amazed how the gourmets can screw up the simplest recipe in the world.
I found it with white wine, brandy, leeks, nutmeg, chopped carrots and I don't remember what all in it.
I'll stick with flour, butter, milk, beef and black pepper. I can't think of anything else I want in it.
