We hauled a load of steers and a couple of young bulls to the sale in West a couple of days ago. Cattle prices are good, but there was one cow/calf pair that sold for $3000! On average most pairs sold in the 2400 to 2800 range. It is a good time to be in the cattle business.

Good time to have a Bullwagon, they are everywhere right now and doing well.

I was pleased with the price we got for our steers, but it was not that good. The two young bulls we sold did really good. Wish I had more ready for market.

We have come to the point that leaving them bulls and taking the higher gain is better than steers being a little slower gaining.
Wish West were closer to us, producers in San Angelo is a joke as far as a sale barn. We have to go to Coleman or Mason, better prices make up the fuel cost and then some.

I don't understand...why are young bulls doing better than steers? And what about the same size growers? How are they doing?

Marti, by young bulls I meant 3 year olds. If we get a calf that I think would be a good breeding prospect we don't cut him and take him to sale @ the time he is 3.

Thanks, Bill. I thought you were talking small bulls.
