Ever been to Waxahachie?

Postby LibraryLady2 » Sat May 02, 2020 10:14 pm

Just watched an episode of the Daytripper and it featured Waxahachie.
I have driven through there once.

The crew visited Catfish Plantation and the food looked good. Then they visited a BBQ place that offers lessons on how to make good BBQ.

Looked like a place to explore when it is OK to get out an about again.

Never been to Waxahachie. Been to Denison, where Huck's has the best catfish I've ever put in my mouth, bar none.

I've been to Waxahachie many times. Like most places around the messtroplex it's really grown the past 10-15 years.
Catfish Plantation is supposed to be haunted. I've eaten there a couple of times. Pretty good.
Tender Mercies was filmed in and around Waxahachie.

I agree on HUCKS. We couldn't get good fish anywhere in the metroplex including McKinney. We would drive to Hucks from McKinney even when gas was $4/gallon. Another thing we like about Hucks is that you don't have to spend $$$$ for "all you can eat".
We live in Sulphur Springs now, and there are several "pretty good" places around, but our lastest good find was in Emory, tx called Sidekicks.
It's a regular restaurant but has very good fish. 4 pieces are 11.99 or ask for the 2 piece 7.99. Comes with 3 sides & hushpuppies.

Is that the place just off 75, east of 75?

If so, ate there once and it is good.

We like catfish that is cut rather thin so it is crispy when eaten.

Believe it or not--the catfish at Golden Chick is pretty good for fast food catfish.

We wanted it last night, but after driving over there, they said they were entirely sold out of fish.
So we were going to go over to PopEye's and when we approached the place, the people waiting in the drive through circled the building.
We went to KFC.
As we drove home, we passed a Braums and the drive through there was circling the building.

I don't have the patience to wait that long in an idling car.

My son had the catfish at Golden Chick, and he agrees that it's surprisingly good. Coincidentally, I'm heading up their to get some tenders and rolls to make mini-sandwiches.

Their gizzards are also very good. I buy gizzards for my wife and catfish for me.
