Their coming for your Coke.

Taxing soda pop is a great way to cut down on obesity and a money maker as well.

They say we can reduce obesity with a $.06 tax on every 12oz of soda.

The findings show that a 6 cent tax will cut consumption by, drum roll please, 5800 calories a year that equals 1.5 lbs of ugly fat.

Handy chart
Liquid Candy Tax Calculator

Americans consume huge quantities of soft drinks, which promote obesity and other health problems. Obesity alone costs $147 billion a year in medical expenditures, half of which are paid through Medicare and Medicaid. Taxing soft drinks is an effective approach for cash-strapped federal and state governments looking for ways to fund health care and disease-prevention programs.

Liquid Candy Report

More than two-thirds of Americans are overweight or obese, and sugar drinks are the only food or beverage shown to increase the risk.

Now are they really trying to stop you from being a fatty or are they looking for revenue?
