If your thinking about rain barrels, I have 2, you may want to consider:
You probably won't want to use the water for cocktails. All the dirt on your roof runs into them too.
Also, you'll probably have to modify your downspouts, not cheap if you hire it done.
Even with a screen, mesquitos can lay eggs in them.
You have to remove them and store them somewhere in the winter
You can only water what is downhill from them. Or use a bucket
If outdoor watering is banned, it probably won't be enough water to keep much alive

Why would I want a rain barrel?
It doesn't rain here. Drought. Global warming. We're all gonna die.

I have never had an interest in one--for all the reasons Plano mentioned......but, I have friends who have them.
My son in Ottawa has one, it came with his house. They just drain it in the winter.

I have 2 because Plano offered a $50 rebate on each one. But, I probably wouldn't buy them again.
