8 & 8 could be a dream season for this bunch.

It doesn't look hopeful. But you never know...

I'll stick with 8-8. I think the "sorry team" label is being over-hyped, just like in previous seasons the "play-off team" label was over-hyped. My reasoning this year centers around a belief that the defense will not be as bad as the analysts predict, nor will the offense be as good as they're predicting; therefore 8-8. Tom Landry used to always emphasize "execution" of each play being the bottom line factor in every victory or loss. I remember him also commenting one time about all 22 players being grown, college educated professionals, and are expected to "execute" their job just like in any other professional field.

I will stick with 8-8. I try not to put much stock in pre-season, but what I've seen and heard so far suggests to me that 8-8 is optimistic. One or two key injuries and it will get ugly pretty quickly. I seriously doubt Romo makes it through the season. Hope I am wrong.

I will watch every game, as I always have. Cowboys are still the #1 sports story in town and I consider watching the game to be homework for the discussions that follow.

I said 6-10 back in the spring, and I'll stick with it now.

I also remember Tom saying that a single play never beats you, which I guess refers to execution on all plays — not just an individual one.

True. My "take away" was that coaching and the game plans only contribute so much, most of it has to be the players doing their job each time they line up over the ball.
