So what if the bridge is repaired?

People should not be allowed to live in storm prone areas.

That article is two weeks old, dipwad.

You might as well have found an article from a hurricane in the 1950s.

So, you are claiming that it's all fixed now?

Cars and trucks involved in rebuilding the island are traveling on it now..yes.

Residents are being asked to wait a bit longer to allow this to happen.

But yes, the bridge that collapsed in 5 different places is back up and running.

As of Tuesday, Oct 11th.

News-Press: First trucks cross repaired Sanibel Causeway on Tuesday.

Anyone who rebuilds on the barrier islands should understand they do so entirely at their own risk, if at all. A little vacation shack furnished with Goodwill cast offs is one thing, a $400,000 year round home is another thing.

Based on what?

What the hell does that mean.

Based on the fact that Ron DeSantis said so.

He said what? where? when? Are you sure you didn't dream it?

Ok..you go ahead and think of it as still collapsed. I guess that helps you somehow.

That wasn't even the Sanibel Causeway bridge! It was the Pine Island bridge!

You need to stop.

The Pine Island bridge was rebuilt just a couple days after the hurricane..another great success.

The Sanibel bridge took a couple of weeks.

And you’re such a dipwad.

Sanibel/Captiva is a great place to go. At least it was, I'm sure it will be again.

And as usual, your just blowing smoke with no evidence. Here's the lastest prediction from the DeSantis as of 10 Oct. And I think he's overly optimistic for even temporary repairs. He lies a lot too.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis promised last week to restore the bridge to Sanibel by the end of this month. The Florida Transportation Department completed similar repairs on Pine Island’s bridge last week, allowing nonprofits – including World Central Kitchen and Rapid Response Crisis Control – to set up relief efforts.

You really have to wonder why they would bother to try to rebuild it. For people to travel out to see where their house used to be?

People will still want to go to the beach to swim, get some sun, build sand castles, go fishing, etc even if they don't rebuild a single house. Nothing wrong with that. But knowing people, in a few years, without a storm, memories of Ian will fade. Homes will be built & it all happens again.
