"OMG! It's way too smokey"
https://dnyuz.com/2023/06/08/and-the-ma ... -in-smoke/

We had it for 2 whole summers. The first was fires mostly in Colorado. Almost burned down Estes Park. One was just about 20 miles west of Fort Collins. We weren't in danger but we got to breathe the smoke. The second summer was the fires in California that wrapped around on us. They had it a lot worse in the NW but it still made for a miserable summer here too.

It's bad alright. I hope they don't have it very long or it's going to be a disaster.
Do you know why this doesn't happen in Euope? Most of it is heavily forrested. It's because they manage their forests. They don't let dead trees and limbs just lie there waiting for a forest fire to burn ever 100 years or so. Germany has forest meisters responsible for keeping the forests clean. Switzerland, Austria, Italy, they all do the same. Somehow, we and Canada have never figured it out.

That's what you think. They don't agree.

Unfortunately, not every country does a great job. Mainly, those in northern Europe that I mentioned.

Huge forest fires are a common thing in Spain, killing many people most years, and they are almost 100% set by firebugs.

Firebugs is what I hear is going on in Canada too. I've never been to Spain but I kind of like the music.

Italy is in Southern Europe. Austria, Switzerland and Germany are in Central Europe. None of the ones you mentioned are in Northern Europe.

Italy is a very long country. Northern Italy is mountainous. Southern Italy is plains.
