The biggie was the tribute to Joni Mitchell. She performed sitting down and tapping her cane to the beat. She did "Both Sides Now" one of 2 good songs that she wrote. The other was Big Yellow Taxi.

Gordon Lightfoot died last year. Probably, the greatest folk singer/songwriter that ever lived. Lightfoot performed live concerts almost up to the day he died. No mention of him though.
OK, if you prefer Bob Dylan I understand. But, he is really more of a songwriter than a singer. And he mostly plays piano on stage anymore. Not very folkie.

Everyone needs to know when to hang it up and go away.

Well, actually she did, years ago. She was probably invited.
What most people don't know is that she had hand issues. So, most of her songs were written to be played in "Open tuning". That is where you tune the strings to a chord. I know this because I have the same problem.:D

Agreed...

It's really sad, but two of my favorites (Frank Marino and Jonny Lang) have had to quit performing because of health issues. It's far better to go away gracefully than to cheat the paying fans and embarrass yourself.

I'm also a big fan of Genesis, especially from their early prog rock years. They did their final show two years ago. They shouldn't have done it. The health issues of Phil Collins have had a huge impact. He did the entire show from a stool, and his drum kit wasn't even there. He couldn't even sing the songs properly. He embarrassed himself. To make matters worse, his kid was doing the drumming instead of Chester Thompson, their touring drummer of the past 45 years.

We saw Jerry Lee Lewis on one of his final tours. While we did enjoy the show, he should probably have not been performing. He did the entire show from a piano bench, right up until the very end of the final song.

We also saw Glen Campbell on his final tour, after he had been diagnosed with Alzheimers. He was still on top of his concert performance game, and put on a great show.

She should have politely declined.
