If 45 is right he should have no problem. He can just sell Mar-a-Lago and maybe have millions left over.
The Palm Beach County assessor appraised Mar-a-Lago’s market value to be between $18 million and $27.6 million.
However, Donald Trump, the estate’s presidential owner, claimed its value to be between $426.5 million and $612.1 million in official filings—an overvaluation of at least 2,300 percent1.
The New York judge, Arthur Engoron, ruled that such a significant discrepancy could only be considered fraud1.
Appraisal Process:
Cecil Jackson, the chief property appraiser for Palm Beach County, explained that their assessments are based on tax purposes only.
Mar-a-Lago, like other properties, is assessed based on factors such as memberships, annual dues, facility expenses, and capitalization rates.
The assessment is done equitably and fairly, regardless of the property owner’s name1.
Trump’s Reaction:
Trump and his sons responded incredulously to the ruling, asserting that Mar-a-Lago is the “most spectacular and valuable property in Palm Beach, Florida” and could be worth almost 100 times the assessed value1.
However, the court deemed Trump’s valuation as fraudulent.
In summary, while the official appraisal places Mar-a-Lago’s value around $18 million to $27.6 million, Trump’s claims significantly exceed this figure. The estate’s true worth remains a contentious issue, but the legal verdict stands.
