My HS Class of 1971 had an informal get-together this past weekend because everyone turns 71 years old this year, hence the '71 turns 71. Clever, right? Very nice turnout, 30 of us plus spouses, better than expected for something only thought of a month ago. Anyway, some of these "kids" I have known since kindergarten 1958-59, a couple even earlier than that. Our last formal reunion was in 2021. In the three years since, I was shocked by how even more aged & infirm many have suddenly become. It's not as if it's been 53 years since I have seen these people. My best friend since 2nd grade has cancer in his tongue & his Parkinsons has gotten much worse. One classmate died Friday during heart surgery, another died just earlier today. Still another might go this week or next. It's inevitable that we get old & many pass away through the years, but still sad to see it actually happen. I have lived longer than three of my four grandparents. Both my parents are physically still in pretty good shape for their 90s, but have outlived all their siblings, cousins & friends. I can't imagine how that must be for them. What a drag it is getting old.
HOPE I DIE BEFORE I GET OLD - TOO LATE!

My younger buddy from Ohio, is now 71.
He works as an independent software engineer for a major mfg.
Goes to work every day in a suit.
His goal is to be the oldest person in the plant.

Why? No one’s final words were ever, "I wish I had spent more time at work."

There are plenty of people who regret retiring from their jobs.
