Sources on Capitol Hill say that Nancy Pelosi has confided to Democratic colleagues that she deeply regrets her role in the coup that replaced Joe Biden with Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee.
She expressed that she should have trusted her political instincts, which told her that Harris was too weak a candidate to face Donald Trump. Pelosi has also confided in her colleagues that she fears she permanently damaged her longtime friendship with the Biden family, who have not spoken to her since July.
Pelosi has also shared with colleagues that a significant factor in her decision to file for re-election in 2026 is her desire to spend at least two more years working to repair the damage done to her reputation and legacy.
