Did Gaetz resign from the 118th Congress seat or his 119th seat he was just elected to ? It might matter.
Perhaps Trump used this to flush out the assistant democrats in the Senate ?

Oak, I think Trump wanted Bondi in the 1st place. Gaetz was the sacrificial lamb.

He did not resign, he just announced he would not be inaugurated, which is not binding.

He did not resign, he just announced he would not begin his new term in office, which is not binding.
