Bob Dylan and me

Bob and I have a lot in common. I am 8 months older than him. We both played folk guitar. Then he went electric. I didn't. Copout!

I upset one of my buddies at last week's card game when I said the two worst singers in the history of rock and roll are Bob Dylan and Neil Young.

I think he played Dallas only once in all the time I lived there. He played piano, never touched a guitar. I felt kind of cheated.

His real name is Zimmerman and he was born Jewish. Don't know it he still is or not?

Took my daughter and her friend to see Dylan and Merle Haggard at Nokia in GP many years ago. Even though they weren’t that into country they really loved Merle. More so than Dylan.
And Dylan only played piano, no guitar that I can remember. Somewhat disappointing, but hey, it was Dylan.

It’s not always about the vocal quality.
Look at Randy Newman, Kris Kristofferson, Joe Cocker, etc. None of them are great stereotypical singers.
Sometimes it’s about the writing, the vocal phrasing, and the feeling.

Male..Dean Martin
Female..not even close..Karen Carpenter.

I saw Dylan at Reunion Arena in 1986 when he opened for Tom Petty. He was still playing guitar at that time, but he mumbled through his set and some of the songs were almost unrecognizable. He came out and played for Petty's encore.

Another is the fact that military orders were all typewritten then. But, there is not one scrap of paper from that time period that supports the holocaust theory. Zero zip nada.

There were some Zimmermans that lived across the alley when I was a kid. We used to throw rocks at them.
