Hubs and I are putting in a small outdoor kitchen. Small. It’s just us. Will have fam and friends over occasionally. We don’t cook much.

Outdoor kitchen will have built in frig, trash bins, and grill. We’re stuck on the grill. Propane will be out energy source.

How many BTUs? We’re thinking 20,000 on a small grill. That’s as far as we’ve gotten. Have looked at Barbeques Galore and Jackson’s.

My advice is to get a grill larger than you think you need, and the higher quality grills retain heat much better than lower quality grills.

I enjoy our outdoor kitchen, especially during the Summer so as not to heat up the house. Also, Mrs. Red Oak requires me to cook my wild game and other earthy cuisine outside and with my own cookware.

'Toes, BTUs are a measure of the amount of energy used, not the output. Lower BTUs is actually a good thing.

I highly recommend Weber. They are efficient and cook evenly.

We've used a lot of different kinds of grills over the years. We've settled in now with wood pellets at home, and a portable propane Blackstone griddle on the road. I'm sure none of this helps with your decision.

The one thing I will offer however, is that if you are going to get a propane grill for home, read the reviews of whatever you purchase to see how susceptible it is to wind, and also evaluate the location where you will be using it for wind. The most frustrating experience I've ever had with a grill was a portable propane grill that wouldn't stay lit because the wind kept blowing out the flame.

ETA: I was a fan of Holland propane grills, but unfortunately, they went out of business.
