I had the pleasure of seeing Uncle Ted with my kid about 10-12 years ago in Grand Prairie. There were no gimmicks. They just stood there and rocked for the entire set.

Interesting to note: Ted's band had the smallest footprint of any band not in a small bar that I've ever seen.

Ted Nugent rocks.

My opinion wasn’t formed when Ted became the darling of the MAGAs. I’ve known he sucked for years. Went to one of his shows back in the 70s. The OTHER guitar player was great. Nugent sucked. He had 2 songs that I remember. Neither of them was great but Hey Baby wasn’t bad. Even if he did rip off Bruce Chanel for the title. But even if he WAS great he’d still be an admitted pedophile. Uncle Ted indeed.

FWIW, Ted Nugent didn't write "Hey Baby". Derek St. Holmes did.

If you happened to go to the same show I did, I would agree with you: Nugent apparently had the flu, and they shut down the concert after about 45 minutes. But that was OK, because Head East and Mahogany Rush had smokin' sets. In fact, Head East did a two-hour set, so they probably knew that was going to be the case.

When the show opened, Nugent was in the center of the stage doing "Stranglehold" (which has a killer phased bass line) with a spotlight on him. When the singing started, I looked waaaaay over to stage right, and there was this guy just wailing and playing guitar. I said, "Who is THAT guy!?!" Derek St. Holmes, and yes, he was great.

I think that there are several great songs just off the first album:
Stranglehold
Hey Baby
Stormtroopin' (sounds like a Deep Purple song to me, and it rocks)
Just What the Doctor Ordered
(i.e, the whole first side of the album)

I also like "Dog Eat Dog", off "Free for All"

Here's an interesting tidbit that I never knew: On Free for All", Meat Loaf did the lead vocals on five of the nine songs.
