The Academy Awards

Postby BigTex » Sun Mar 02, 2025 7:52 am

Looking forward to the Academy Awards Sunday night. High entertainment value for me. The pearl-clutching speeches should be off the chart.

Please do us a PSA and report the highlights here. I don't have time to watch shit like that.

Let us know how many Hollywood assholes volunteer to die for Ukraine and Zelensky's grift.

Not really. One winner referenced "the current chaos" three times. Darryl Hannah started her presentation with "Slava Ukraine!" One of the documentary winners went on about Gaza, but that's what his film was about so that was understandable. Zoey Saldana made a big deal about being a descendent of Dominican immigrants.

The most overt comment about Trump came surprisingly (to me) from the host Conan O'Brien. Referring to wins by the film Anora he said" I guess Americans are excited to see somebody finally stand up to a powerful Russian." Big audience reaction to that.

The worst speech of the evening was not political. Adrian Brody rambled on and on, told them to stop the music, and kept on going.

Brody thanked his partner, Georgina Chapman, who not only “reinvigorated my own self worth, but my sense of value and my values.” He also mentioned both of Chapman’s two children, who she shares with disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, who is currently detained while awaiting a retrial on sex crimes charges in New York.

I was wondering who the first person to take extra time to post that they weren’t watching the Academy Awards because they “didn’t have time for that crap”.

My prediction came true.

You guys are so predictable.

This is the equivalent of some who posts that they’re “not posting anymore”.

Fine, quit posting. Why announce it? Nobody cares but you.

I have plenty of time to watch crap like that.

But I’ve never watched.

The last movie I watched in a theater was "Stan & Ollie", and I don't think there was anyone in there the age of 60.
