whooaaa! Battery issue

Electrical issues or a bad battery?

I am still having issues with my truck since I hit the deer.

Dead as dead this morning. One of the batteries is fairly new. Figured it was time to replace the other one. Jumped the truck off with the Jeep and headed to Autozone.

Got back and started to round up tools. Smelled like sewer in the driveway. Looked all over, and new sewage leak.

Popped my hood and wheeeww! Battery was smoking and sizzling.

I threw some towels over it and got it unhooked, but left it in the truck.

Any ideas?

Smoking and sizzling battery is not good. The only way something like that happens is a device(light.radio, etc) depleting the battery or a 12 volt positive touching ground somewhere.

Really sounds like you have a hot wire grounding out.

I have had nothing but battery issues since smacking that deer.

The dealer here cannot find anything wrong. Time to take it to the big city to have it looked at.

I agree with Steve.

One question I have, Does your truck have the 110 cord for the glow plug heater anywhere close to where everything was fixed?

I do have the plug, but all of the damage was done up near the hood and light assembly.

Impact vibration could have shaken something loose elsewhere in the engine compartment.

(I almost misspelled "loose." :D )
